What is wellness and Wellness Coaching? Wellness encompasses many aspects such as physical wellness, mental wellness as well as social wellness. I take a holistic approach to wellness which includes nutrition as well as levels of activity, sleeping patterns and other aspects in life you feel you would like to improve on.
Coaching sessions consist of getting to the root of the issue and working out a strategy to make small consistent changes. The aim is for these changes to become long term improvements. Coaches work off tried and tested methods such as setting short, medium and long term goals. These goals are based on the SMART principle in which goals must be:
- SPECIFIC
- MEASURABLE
- AGREEABLE
- REALISTIC
- TIME MEASURED
By making goals specific, it gives you something tangible you can work towards. With a goal being measurable, progress can be monitored. Agreeable goal are goals that you agree to. The client sets the goals and not by the coach. Goals must be realistic. The reason for this is that they need to be achievable. If your goals are unachievable, they will be short lived as these are dreams and not goals. While we all like dreaming big, we need to keep our goals realistic, if we are to achieve them. And finally. Goals need to be time measured. Goals are then split into long, medium and short term.
Wellness Coaching
Sessions normally last between 45 to 60 minutes but every session is different. Sessions are carried out face to face but they can also be done over skype or zoom for added convenience.
